Some pithy sayings that occured to me:

Addendum: Fear is the response to the idea that something bad will happen in the future. Hope is the response to the idea that something good will happen in the future. Since the future is unknown, neither of these ideas can be proven to be true, so logic plays no part here. However, if you have faith, you will believe that something good will happen, and you will be hopeful rather than fearful.

If you don't mind, I would like to add something to the second thought that came to you. What if you had certain knowledge of the outcome of your journey but you didn't have absolute knowledge (100% surety)where you would end up. I.e. If you were certain that by following the truth (which all your knowledge should eventually lead you to inshallah) you would end up in a beautiful place and have a beautiful end, yet weren't a 100% sure, would you follow it just to attain the HOPE of a beautiful end and the same if you were certain that by walking on the way of ignorance would lead you towards a destructive end, and yet you weren't a 100% sure about it, would you still walk on it and achieve the fear of ending up in ruins? A great scholar of Islam, Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal said that Hope and Fear are two wings for the believer, they have to be balanced. One should have the same amount of hope of his future being blessed in paradies by Allah SWT than having the fear of Allah's punishment for his sins on the day of judegment. The Quran is there as CERTAIN knowledge about the good and bad. It is the criterion between good and evil. And the ABSOLUTE KNOWLEDGE belongs only to Allah SWT. I.e. Whether you'll end up in paradise or hellfire - that's why this life is a test.
